The mystery and the details of Amish life made these stories much more interesting than the traditional romance. The books also all feature a mystery from the families past. We see all of the same characters through each book. The thread (no pun intended) of the story continues through each book/family member so that each book builds on the previous stories as the new story moves ahead. Each book centers around a particular woman in the family. These books are about modern day Amish and Mennonite women in one extended family. The Amish Seamstress is just one of the books in this series. It was a good book, and before I knew it, I was hooked and had to have all of the others. I started with the first book in this series, The Amish Midwife. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() The book also had a diagram of his ship inside the covers. There are several planets with mining facilities and colonies, and our intrepid captain tenders to these, in a private business, carrying plutonium and similar stuff. The setting is one of a slightly decaying society, with the usual problems, trash, pollution etc. The story is about a lone spaceship captain flying interplanetary cargo hauls in our solarsystem.
